Student Travel Awards
GERS is offering student travel awards to GERS 2012. Interested students must register and submit an abstract to GERS 2012, then submit a copy of their abstract, a letter of support from their advisor (recognizing their student status and registration), and submit a photograph (at least 300 dpi) of themselves working in the lab or field. All qualified applicants will be entered into a lottery for the travel award. Please submit application materials to email@example.com Indicate GERS STUDENT TRAVEL AWARD in the subject line. Student travel award applications for GERS 2012 and CERF Argentina are due by October 1, 2012.
Update, October 2012:
The winners of the $125 Student Travel Award for the GERS 2012 meeting on Dauphin Island are Merrill Rudd (University of Florida) and Qiyuan Li (University of Texas Austin). The winner of the $1000 Student Travel Award for the CERF Argentina meeting is Ryann Heffernan (US EPA). Congratulations!
Approximately 8-10 student workers are needed to work half-day shifts over the course of the conference. Volunteers will be doing things such as prepping coffee and cookies for session breaks, running lights and slideshows during the sessions, manning food and beverage sales during picnic and banquet, and checking people into and out of student dorms. In return for their time and effort, volunteers will recieve conference registration at no cost (this does not include lodging). Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org (or indicate in your abstract submission email) if you are interested in volunteering.
